Home at last

After three weeks of traveling, I am happy to be sitting at my computer typing this. We had a stressful time in the airports (not the plane) with Xander and a few other times in public (no less). I can say, I never thought we would be the people everyone was staring at with the screaming child. Overall it was a nice trip.
Little man got to see both of his great-grandfathers and give them kisses, see David's mom and step dad, and my parents. We (with Xander) were able to visit Downtown Disney (Dinosaurs ROAR), Daytona Beach, Play Grounds (a few visits), SC Aquarium, Folly Beach, Charleston Children Museum, and go out a friends house with a race car (Keys?). David and I enjoyed some time to ourselves and with friends while in the south: a few dinners at the Dog and the Duck (best redneck bar--just cause the have newcastle on tap), a meal at Vinnie (the best pizza place, ever) with some friends, BBQ with some friends in Jesup, GA (awesome chicken!), Downtown Disney (kid less), saw a movie (Star Trek-a day before national release), and do a little mall shopping in Orange Park, FL. Oddly enough, on a last full day before flying out, David and I got our hair cut (short-again) after being way to hot for two weeks.
Off to San Fran, we went for our first vacation from vacation. We decide that staying on the beach was the best place for us, I must say the sound of the waves breaking and the smell of the ocean air was wonderful for three days. We did venture into the city for a day and spent a bit of money on clothes and ate the best Chinese food in China Town. Enjoyed a good wine tasting at the old Ferry Terminal. After a day of walking 5 to 8 miles, we decided to head back to the beach. On Mother's Day, I required us to go on a hike and then we spent the day in the burbs. First before the arcade trip, I need to do some wine tasting in Half Moon, and then on to Sunnyvale. David got to go to the world famous arcade from back in the day, as home gaming systems have taken over, he was bit disappointed, but happy to see it. Then we asked, Miss Jill GPS (yes, we named the GPS because it has a voice), where the nearest movie theater was. After what seems like endless driving in circles from one on ramp to the next, we went to a kick ass theater to see the new X men movie. Low in behold we manage to end up in the tech district next to Yahoo and a bunch of other internet companies. After a long day out, I drove like I was from California (a bit of speeding- but still getting passed like I was standing still) to a make sure we would make it back in time for the sunset, which was beautiful to see (even with spots from looking at the sun to long)! Monday was a lazy day, with eating at Taco Bell on the beach and watching surfers before going to SFO to finally come home. After our eighth flight in a little over two weeks, we came home to the pets.
But only stayed a few days, so we could go to Anchorage for the weekend. Anchorage was a relaxing visit with friends with no need to be in a rush. Thanks for the good food and beer! Now we are home for the summer--except for my work business trips and one down to MS for college. It will not feel complete till Xander is home from his grandparents.
