Traveling Beckers

A lot has happened in the last three months for us.  We have traveled to Anchorage a few times, SE Lower 48, and around SE AK.  We have also enjoyed our time around town.

Xander turned 3 at the end of March and is evolving into a little man!  He is 37 inches tall and weights 34 pounds, so he is right on track for his age.  He is spending 6 weeks with my parents this spring and is enjoying it.  But, at this point I think he and we are ready to have him home.

We closed out February with a bang of fireworks.  Xander got to enjoy his first set of Fur Rondy events with Aunt Denise in Anchorage.  He was offered to sit in a dog sled, but he felt his stroller was more high speed!  On the way back we brought Kuma home from his three month weight loss camp!  Believe it or not I even think the cats missed Kuma.

We enjoyed a relaxing March and a fun filled birthday celebration with his little friend and her parents.  As always, Xander was spoiled and thanks everyone for the wonderful gifts.

Shortly after turning three, Xander and I headed to Georgia, South Carolina and Florida to visit family for two weeks.  While on our family visits, Xander enjoyed visiting grandparents, Daytona Beach, seeing a 2,000 year old tree, parks, meeting new people, playing at a farm, looking for fossils, Children's Museum,  Aquarium, big back yards with grass, race cars, and pool time.  I was able to enjoy some time with friends, but never seemed long enough. Xander has been enjoying the last month at my parents house of back yard beach, parks, roller skating, cooking, earning money for chores, playing with dogs, and trips out around Savannah.

David and I planed on going to England, Ireland, and Scotland for around 10 days in late April, but what do you know a unpronounceable volcano goes off in Iceland.  So needless to say we had to cancel the trip and then took a voyage over to Anchorage for a week. We enjoyed a relaxing time with friends and great food.  Sadly, while we were there the house sitter felt the Yaris need a make over and smashed in the front.  Believe it or not the car still ran like champ, but is still in the shop.

May has been full of lazy days with lots of hiking and hanging out with friends.  We have enjoyed a few dinners out, a few movies, hikes, and a outing on a boat.  As always, I try to do most of my work travels while Xander is gone to prevent losing time with him. So far, I have been to Skagway, Hoonah, Wrangell, Blashke Island, Point Baker and Petersburg.  I have enjoyed visiting the same sites from before and seeing things that I did not see  or do before like the touring towns, seeing petroglyphs on the beaches, eating fresh oysters, enjoying May fest in Petersburg, learning how to do rose mailing, and geocacheing in a new place.

Who knows what is in store this Summer for us!
