New Year with new adventures!

We started out the New Year with our wonderful friends, and Xander even stayed awake till midnight.  I started the new year out by doing the Polar Bear Plunge in Auke Bay waters at a chilly 37 degrees Fahrenheit.   We are enjoying the winter snow when we can, but have had to spend a lot of time inside due to having a young infant.  Xander has enjoyed sledding on the hill by the house, playing in our yard, and a few trips to Auke Bay, the glacier and Sandy Beach.  Damon seems to like to get outside, but he does a lot of sleeping in the baby carrier.

Unfortunately, we have been lucky winners of the sick bomb lottery multiple times this winter.  We are hopping for it to be less and less has Damon gets exposed to everything there is at daycare.  This has limited our activities also.

We went back east in February for Damon to meet his Pop pop and Xander to enjoy an early 5th birthday present to Disney World.  We drove from Charleston, SC to Orlando, FL in a day, of which I got to ride in the backseat middle for around 8 hours.  We spent two nights in our one room snoring palace with a great view of African Savannah animals.  Damon enjoyed a day with his Grandma Nash, while David and I took Xander to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.   We made pit stops to visit with family in Florida.  The next week we spent in Georgia with the boys staying with my parents, which meant full nights sleep for David and I for the first time since Damon was born!  David, Damon, and I headed back to South Carolina to celebrate David's Grandfather's 93rd birthday.  Damon and I head home first while David and Xander spent an extra week down south.

Xander is developing nicely and will be more than ready for school this fall.  Damon has started crawling around and he loves interacting with his big brother.

David and I decided it was time for me to start looking for NWS jobs in the lower 48 that had less shift work.  So, I applied for a few jobs, and I was offered a position at the Gray, Maine NWS office.  Now we are getting ready to move over 3000 miles across the US in late April.  This will allow the boys to be closer to their grandparents.  We are really excited about the new chapter in our life that we will be starting, but we will also miss living in Alaska.
